India and England face off in anticipated Test match.

Leeds: In a development ahead of the second Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England, Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana has been released from the squad.

The decision comes as the team prepares to move from Leeds to Birmingham for the crucial second encounter. Rana, who was initially included in the squad as a precautionary measure, was not seen with his teammates as they departed for Birmingham.

The Indian team embarked on their journey from Leeds around 11:30 am local time, traveling by bus with an estimated travel time of just over three hours to reach Birmingham.

Following their arrival, the team is scheduled to take a two-day break before resuming training sessions. The focus will be on regrouping and strategizing for the second Test, where they aim to level the series after the setback at Headingley.

Gautam Gambhir had previously commented on Rana's inclusion, stating, "I haven't spoken to the chairman selector; I will speak to the chairman of selectors because there was a bit of a niggle in the group. That is why we wanted him as a backup." He further added, "But at the moment, everything looks fine, so if everyone is fine, he would have to fly back.”

India's defeat at Headingley was particularly noteworthy, given their strong batting performance. The team scored a total of 835 runs and recorded five individual centuries.
