Vijay, the actor who has transitioned into politics, has been officially declared as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This significant decision was made through a special resolution during the party's State Executive Committee meeting held at the TVK headquarters in Chennai.
According to NDTV, the meeting, with Vijay presiding, also initiated plans for a large-scale state conference scheduled for next month.
Simultaneously, Vijay is preparing for the release of his highly anticipated film, 'Jana Nayagan,' directed by H. Vinoth. The teaser for 'Jana Nayagan' recently released, garnering positive feedback from viewers.
Priyamani, an actress with a key role in the film, expressed her admiration for Vijay. As reported by Wionews, she stated in an interview, "I’m super excited to share screen space with Vijay… I hope this isn’t his last film."
Another actress, Mamitha Baiju, who also plays a significant role in 'Jana Nayagan,' shared insights from a recent interaction at the Kerala Carnival in Ireland. She revealed, "I just asked him whether 'Jana Nayagan' would truly be his last outing. Vijay Sir responded by saying that it all depends on how elections go. He also said that we’ll see what happens.”
'Jana Nayagan' boasts a prominent cast, including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Mamitha Baiju. Meanwhile, Vijay's previous film, the action-oriented 'GOAT,' did not resonate well with audiences.
