Phil Simmons, the head coach of Bangladesh, is set to temporarily leave the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka to consult with physicians in London.
Contrary to speculation, Simmons' trip is not related to a performance review by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam. Instead, the visit is for a pre-scheduled medical appointment in the UK.
The former West Indian opener is anticipated to rejoin the team in Sri Lanka on July 7, ensuring his presence for the third One Day International (ODI) of the series. Following the ODI matches, Bangladesh is scheduled to compete in three Twenty20 International (T20I) games.
The Bangladesh team has experienced mixed fortunes on the tour thus far. While they secured a draw in the opening Test match, they subsequently lost the second Test, conceding the series to Sri Lanka. Furthermore, they suffered a batting collapse in the first ODI, resulting in a loss.
